Greg and Gay Blunden have a 90ha QEII covenant. Greg is the convenor of the NZ Kiwi Foundation. He specialises in biodiversity management and land use change.

Whangarei
Nan Pullman
Nan jointly runs a small beef farm, two teenagers and a freelance photography / journalism company with her husband Malcolm. She previously worked as a newspaper journalist and as a media liaison officer for DoC.
She likes to be involved with 'hands on' local conservation projects including possum and mustelid control to help kukupa, kiwi and dotterel populations around the coast; native plant restoration projects; local mangrove cleanup days; pingao planting, and kiwi listening.

Kaipara
Nick Matich
Nick has developed a strong affinity with the New Zealand natural environment over many years of outdoor activity. He has a background in civil engineering, surveying and petrochemical testing and worked for a number of years at Whakapapa doing seasonal skifield, weed control and kiwi recovery programme work for DOC.
Before becoming the Kaipara rep, he had worked on contract for QEII, carrying out weed control work on covenants in the Northland region. Nick describes himself as a 'practical, outdoor type' and is a snow-skiing and surfing enthusiast in his spare time.

Northwest Auckland
Dan Godoy
In 2002 Dan completed a Master of Science at the University of Auckland focusing on feral goat abundance and control in New Zealand forests.
Since then he has worked in a variety of environmental roles as a contract ecologist and environmental advisor in both marine and terrestrial sectors.
Dan is currently involved with a number of community and research projects focusing on threatened species in New Zealand waters.

Lynda Fleming
Lynda grew up on a family farm in the north Waikato. She has a BA degree in physical geography and is running her business while studying for a post-graduate Diploma in Environmental Management.
Lynda lives on a lifestyle block near Pukekohe with her husband and three children. She loves being outdoors, whether it’s feeding farm animals, boating or walking and is very interested in preserving special places in New Zealand for future generations.

Hamish Kendal
Hamish is a contract ecologist, experienced in pest management and monitoring threatened species. He also undertakes ecological assessments for proposed subdivisions.
Hamish grew up in Hamilton. He completed a post-graduate Diploma in Parks, Recreation and Tourism at Lincoln College in 1996 before returning to work in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. He and his wife and young daughter live beside the Whangapoua Harbour on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Rex Webby
Rex has had 40 years experience in soil conservation and agricultural research including 20 years at Whatawhata Research Centre. For the past 10 years he has been undertaking research on farm systems at Ruakura AgResearch, looking at interactions and consequent downstream effects.
Rex and his wife Margaret live in Hamilton. They have a small bush block in Coromandel which has a district council covenant.
Having being involved in production research, Rex is now looking forward to the shift to practical considerations of protecting the environment under QEII covenants.

Waikato East - Taupo
Hamish Dean
Hamish is an ecologist with a practical bent, having grown up learning about native plants and their propagation from his parents' well-known native plant nursery, Naturally Native.
He previously worked as an ecologist for a central North Island consultancy, carrying out field surveys and monitoring a wide range of ecosystems. He now devotes his energy to his QEII work and the restoration and ecological services company he runs with his father.

Waitomo - Otorohanga
Malcolm Mackenzie
Malcolm knows the central North Island hill country very well. He worked in the area as a MAF farm advisor and then as a self-employed farm consultant for twelve years before turning to his own farm and forestry ventures.
He is an active member of the Farm Forestry Association and has been a forest manager in recent years.
He and his wife Alison manage sheep, cattle and productive forest at their Otorohanga farm, as well as 7ha of regenerating indigenous forest.

Bay of Plenty
Maggie Bayfield
A former QEII Chairperson and Director, Maggie has had more than 20 years experience working as an ecologist, with the last three years being based in the Bay of Plenty.
Maggie has led Protected Natural Area surveys in Taranaki and as a trustee and facilitator of the Taranaki Tree Trust, she has worked with councils and landowners to protect and enhance natural areas. Maggie is a keen tramper.

Gisborne
Malcolm Piper
Malcolm has been the QEII rep for Gisborne for 10 years. He enjoys meeting today's young farmers and seeing them caring for the environment.
Malcolm and his wife Olive farm sheep and cattle on a small block on the flats of Poverty Bay, having retired from their former hill country sheep and cattle property. Two of their three married daughters are still on the land and they have six grandchildren to keep them motivated.

Taranaki
Neil Phillips
Neil was, until recently, a dairy farmer in partnership with his wife Denise. Their farm is now leased so that he can concentrate more fully on conservation work. As well as his QEII role, he has a part-time position with the South Taranaki District Council to provide assistance to landowners in indigenous vegetation management.
He studied at Lincoln University and then worked as a ranger at Nelson Lakes National Park and then Egmont National Park before leaving to go farming full time.
Neil enjoys sharing his spare time with his family and is an outdoor recreation enthusiast, regularly participating in cycling, running, sailing, multi-sport and flying.

Hawke's Bay
Troy Duncan
Troy grew up in Hawke’s Bay, involved in the primary sector. After extensive travel overseas, he is kept busy outside of work by a young family, a small block of land and getting out and about in the outdoors, hunting, rafting and fishing.
Troy has a good overview of the Hawke’s Bay environment and a network of contacts including the Department of Conservation and Regional Council through his work as a TB Vector monitoring contractor, assessing possum populations for the Animal Health Board’s programme from Wairoa to Porangahau.

Central - Manawatu
John Williamson
John has been farming in the Manawatu for the last 24 years with wife Ann, raising beef, sheep and children.
A long-time interest and commitment to the environment has seen John involved in restoration projects and an enthusiasm for the wider outdoors with tramping and education being a passion. He has a broad knowledge base and a deep basket of practical skills that can be called upon with a desire to add to them.

Tararua
Bill Wallace
Bill has farmed in the Tararua district with his wife Pauline for the past 29 years. Previous winners of the Tararua Farmer of the Year, they now lease out their farm and live on a small block near Pahiatua where Bill is involved with various farm monitor groups as well as Federated Farmers.
Bill has always had a passion for our native flora and fauna and has planted many native plants on the two properties. He has also spent many hours in the bush pursuing other interests including hunting, photography and, more recently, mountain running training for multisport events such as the Coast to Coast race.

Wairarapa
Trevor Thompson
Trevor Thompson has a background of many years in conservation including four years setting up and running the predator control system at Pukaha Mt Bruce (1000 hectares) which has given him an in-depth knowledge of managing and restoring native habitats in the Wairarapa. Pest mammals and pest plants control are vital to this process.
Managing native mistletoes and orchids are some of Trevor's specialties.

Wellington
Peter Ettema
Peter Ettema grew up on a dairy farm in the Manawatu. He has worked for the Livestock Improvement Corporation, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Department of Conservation. He also spent a number of years in Tanzania and Bougainville with Volunteer Service Abroad.
For the past two years, Peter has been a fulltime stay-at-home dad looking after his son, Theo. He enjoys getting out and about in the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
